VCHS Foundation – Winter Wonderland On January 11, 2025, the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Foundation hosted its annual Charity Gala, a memorable evening featuring the Dueling Pianos performance by Fun Pianos, a delicious meal provided by Jubilee Catering, and both live and silent auctions. Attendees enjoyed a night of fun while supporting our local hospital and its mission to provide quality healthcare. Thanks to the generous contributions of sponsors, donors, and attendees, the Foundation raised over $30,000. A highlight of the evening included 31 silent auction items, with bidding opening early on Facebook for 48 hours prior, and 10 exciting live auction items. Two cash game sponsors where 2 individuals walked away with $250 and $500 cash, adding to the event's fun evening! “We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from everyone who participated, donated, or attended this special evening,” said Foundation Executive Director Jolene Gydesen. “Having access to exceptional healthcare in our small rural community—delivered by caring providers, nurses, specialists, and staff—is truly something to celebrate. Your generosity impacts the lives of so many served by Valley County Health System.” The evening also featured a heartfelt patient testimonial by Doug Smith, who praised the excellent care provided by VCHS. “How awesome is it that we have such great healthcare right here in our hometown?” Smith’s story touched many in the crowd and underscored the importance of supporting the Foundation’s efforts. Gary Hinrichs was honored with the 2025 Leadership Award for his dedication to ensuring VCHS’s financial processes are accurate and efficient. His expertise in accounting provides invaluable confidence to the organization. For those who were unable to attend but still wish to contribute to the hospital’s ongoing improvements, donations can be mailed to VCHS Foundation, PO Box 321, Ord, NE 68862, or made online at vchs-foundation.org. This year, the Foundation is raising funds for new EKG machines, which are essential for diagnosing and treating heart conditions like heart attacks, irregular heartbeats, pacemaker performance, and the effectiveness of certain heart medications. Looking ahead, the Foundation’s next fundraiser will be the annual golf tournament and auction, with the date to be announced soon. This popular event is eagerly anticipated each year!
